Sigma joins the Full Frame mirrorless game with its sleek, pocketable, and versatile Sigma fp.
On top of three high-performance lenses, Sigma also unveiled the Sigma fp. If you’re looking for a smaller option to your current gear, it can’t get more compact than this. Dubbed as the world’s smallest and lightest Full Frame mirrorless camera, it measures 112.6 x 69.9 x 45.3mm and weighs 370g, yet promises to produce high-quality images for both still photography and cine shooting.
The new Sigma fp is equipped with a 35mm Bayer Full Frame sensor with 24.6 megapixels in a sleek and pocketable form that allows photographers to take it everywhere, whether as an everyday camera or a serious creative tool. It also boasts of “versatile scalability” due to its compatibility with lens and accessories from both Sigma and other brands. At a time when photographers put a premium on portability and flexibility, the company prides itself on this new offering as an “entirely new digital camera that SIGMA can offer to the world right now.”
Aside from its compact and lightweight form, other key features of the new Sigma fp include an electronic shutter instead of a mechanical shutter to ensure quiet shooting and eliminate shutter shock at quick successions, different creative color modes such as the popular “Teal and Orange” mode, tone curve adjustment function, Auto HDR function, and Cinemagraph function. Going from still mode to cine mode is made easy by a simple flip of a switch, with each mode having its specially designed operating system and displays for distraction-free shooting.
The Sigma fp comes in L-mount, which accommodates a wide range of Sigma lenses and other manufacturer’s lenses through the L-Mount Alliance with Leica Camera AG and Panasonic Corporation. The Sigma Mount Converter MC-22, Sigma SA mount, and Sigma’s Canon EF mount lenses are also compatible with this new camera.
