Hey folks, This past weekend, I went through over 400 submissions for the upcoming analog photography zine and chose only the very best. Some photographers will be featured on our website, and only the absolute best are getting into the zine. But with that said, I’d love more submissions–especially from women who shoot film. Plus, …
This morning, Fujifilm is announcing their brand new Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 camera. This is apparently an update of some sort to the Instax Mini 8–and doesn’t do a whole lot with the update but will surely satisfy lots of enthusiasts who simply digg using it. The new Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 camera seems to not only have new colors but also a better (I believe) selfie mirror, high key mode (which is new) and an attachable close-up lens. Other cameras have had the latter before.
Modern digital photography gets a bad rap, when it comes to the way we assess the character of digital capture. We think it’s without character.
When I was 25 years old, I was pregnant with my first child. I was the most excited I’d ever been in my lifetime because all I’d ever dreamed of being was a mother. The love I felt for this invisible being was more than my heart could hold and it would spill out all over anyone and everyone with whom I came into contact. I’d never felt more creative or inspired. At 26 weeks I was headed to my ultrasound appointment to have the results of our gender identification. It was then I learned that our sweet little dream had no heartbeat. I delivered our little baby with the most broken heart you could ever imagine and I have not one image to remember it by.
Maybe for a really long time, we’ve been going about trying to get manual control over Instax Film totally wrong. Instead of trying to hack medium format cameras and camera backs to accommodate the film, why haven’t we tried hacking the cameras available to start with? Well actually, the folks over at Camera Film Photo have been for a while now. Indeed, a Fujifilm Instax Wide 300 camera can be hacked to take a Schneider 65mm f5.6 lens and apparently even other lenses. The lens has both the shutter speed and aperture control on it just like some of the higher end medium format cameras and pretty much all large format cameras.
Upon purchasing a Leica CL, I figured it was time to dive into reviewing more M Mount glass; and what better place to start than with the Zeiss 35mm f1.4 ZM. For years now, I’ve been smitten with Zeiss lenses and most manual focus glass in general. Their lenses are fantastic, and are often highly regarded even amongst the M mount community of users.
Fujifilm has been gaining a ton of steam since the release of their new 24MP based cameras like the X-Pro2, X-T2 and X-T20. That said their older 16MP based cameras are still pretty great too, and they also happen to be on sale right now for some insane savings over their usual pricing.
Hey everyone, Within the next month, we’ve got a number of street photography workshops lined up. Join us in NYC and at your own computer. More details are after the jump!
How My Approach to Street Photography Has Changed After More Than a Decade of Photographing New York
The time-honored approach to improving one’s photography has always been time spent out there taking pictures. Education, gallery shows, and reading photography books can do wonders for a person’s development, but there is nothing that comes close to the importance of just going out there constantly for a long period of time.
It’s pretty insane to think that very soon, a very big camera manufacturer could fall–or at least that’s what being hinted at with a new report about Panasonic’s dwindling profits. In fact, six of the businesses under Panasonic aren’t doing so great and one of those listed is the digital camera business. Indeed, things really have changed over the years. The Micro Four Thirds coalition used to be #1 in the mirrorless camera sales world but they’ve fallen behind when it comes to sales. Sony now dominates with Fujifilm following in on a close second place.
