Compact cameras are some of the most exciting technological advancements in the medium. They not only allow you to carry the camera everywhere but also help with capturing moments on the go. While some of the most popular compact cameras have 1-inch sensors, there are some that break the barrier with APS-C models. Here is a look at the top four contenders.
Canon G1x Mk III

The Canon compact camera features a 24MP APS-C sensor, with a 24-72mm lens. The device is weather resistant, making it ideal for street photography. This is a perfect point-and-shoot not just in terms of price point today, but also in its performance. You can also load film styles into the camera to capture the kind of images you want. As we added in our review, “And to make that even more spicy, we can use different in-camera scene modes like the Toy Camera mode to get something that you’d like right out of camera.”
Ricoh GR IIIx

Ricoh is known for its APS-C compact cameras. The company offers a 24MP sensor along with a 40mm equivalent lens. There is also a fixed LCD, small size and good button placements. There are also multiple focusing mode, based on your needs, and because of the 4fps burst rate, the device is not made for action photography. The colors are fantastic, you get some bokeh, and the RAW files can retain details from the shadow. As we added in our review, “Even at ISO 12800, you get a lot of grain, but it’s the kind that photographers sometimes add to their image to get that film-like fee.”
Fujifilm X100F

The X100F is an amazing compact camera with a 24MP sensor and 35mm equivalent lens. The camera is small, stylish, and portable. The LCD is also huge, and you get so many buttons on the side to work with. The X100F also has a snappy autofocus, and it can track faces well. Adding to this is the image quality, which offers flare and bokeh. Speaking about the photos, we added, “The colors are nice and the files can be massaged to get more out of them.” The photos are sharp and the high ISO results are clean until 6400.
Fujifilm X100VI

The X100VI offers a 40MP sensor, along with a 23mm f2 lens and a 4-stop ND filter. The device offers custom zone settings, and the autofocus has improved a lot over the years. In fact, it can track people of color with ease. The camera is designed for hybrid colour, so you get the benefit of images and videos. Moreover, with film simulations, you can get good results with ease. However, there is no weather sealing, making it challenging to take it out.
