The Canon CS100 Connect Station Lets You Manage Images in One Spot

Just in time for CES 2015, Canon is showing off their brand new connect station that they previously showed in concept form years ago at Canon EXPO. According to the company’s press release the device is designed to let the user “connect to multiple compatible imaging devices allowing users to easily store, view and share images and videos.” The CS100 stores 1TB of memory, and features WiFi and NFC connectivity. The content (JPEG, RAW(CR2), MP4, MOV and AVCHD) can then be viewed on a connected television. But you can also view, upload and download images from your smartphone, tablet, or PC via the browser–which sounds a bit like a personal FTP upload system.

The user can choose to either dump the images wirelessly or connect an SD card or CF card to the CS100. The latter may probably save the battery life of your camera.

Want one? The Canon CS100 Connect Station starts out at $299.99. But that’s not all that Canon is announcing at CES 2015. They’re updated their point and shoots. Specs and more info is after the jump.

In a recently released interview, Canon engineers seem to be having a sly dig at Sony by saying that lenses with smaller mounts are far less capable than those with larger mounts. The New Nikon P1000 Has a 125x Optical Zoom with a Laughable 1/2.3 inch Sensor for $999.95

Today, for some odd reason, the Nikon P1000 point and shoot camera is being announced. Odd, you ask? The fact that it is a point and shoot isn’t such a big issue at all; but the fact that it’s a superzoom camera being marketed as one with a 125x optical zoom is what’s insane. Kudos to Nikon for being able to do something like this; but then you read the fine print (or in this case, print that’s not even in the press release) and see the bait and switch–this Nikkor lens is having its potential wasted by being placed in front of a 1/2.3 inch sensor.
