The new D850 Filmmaker’s Kit will come with the camera, three lenses, 2 mics, and an external recorder/monitor
It could be argued that the D850 is one of the top cameras on the market right now, at the very least one of the top DSLRs (if not THE top DSLR). Some of that can be attributed to its video feature set, which is not something Nikon has ever really been known for. Nikon is looking to continue to capitalize on this with the brand new D850 Filmmaker’s Kit, which looks to be just about everything you could need, from the camera perspective, to be a serious videographer or filmmaker.
Unlike the photography kits that we often see on the lower end of the market, featuring a kit lens and maybe an extra battery stuffed into a cheap camera bag; the D850 Filmmakers Kit actually looks like a really solid kit for anyone who wants to make the D850 the centerpiece of their video creation efforts and who doesn’t already have the other components of that kit loadout. The new D850 Filmmaker’s kit includes three lenses, an extra battery, an on-camera microphone, a wireless microphone, an Atomos Ninja Flame external recorder/monitor, as well as custom foam inserts that kit owners can use in a hard case to transport the entire kit.
As you might expect, a kit like this that basically covers all of the bases is not going to come cheap; and pricing in at $5,499.95 it is not what anyone would consider affordable. That said, you are really getting almost everything you need here to make a quality professional video with the Nikon system. All a videographer or content creator would need in addition to this is maybe some sort of lighting, and stabilization (tripod, gimbal, etc). So, if you look at it from that perspective, it’s not a bad prospect for those who want to build out their video kit in the Nikon system.
