A camera lens isn’t considered a true macro until it is able to reproduce the subject in life-size at a 1x ratio. This 1:1 ratio is where most macro lenses stop, however. The few lenses that can produce a photograph two, four, or even five times its original size are typically manual focus only. That is, until now. The new OM System 90mm f3.5 Macro IS Pro can get close enough for to magnify something 2x — which because of the Micro Four Thirds sensor is actually equivalent to 4x. And the lens does it all with an autofocus motor, stabilization, and IP53-rated weather-sealing. Formally called the M. Zuiko Digital ED 90mm f3.5 IS Pro, the lens is expected to begin shipping in March 2023 for a retail price of about $1,500.
