The Anchor Strap is yet another option if you’ve ever wanted to switch to a comfortable, adaptable, eye-catching leather camera strap.
Leather straps are among the most popular options for photographers, so it’s no surprise (and totally welcome) that more of these keep adding to the pile. The Anchor Strap, one of the latest to come up on Kickstarter, promises to look good, feel great, and adapt to your shooting needs. It’s worth checking out to see if it’s the camera strap you’ve been looking for.
The Anchor Strap story begins similar to most other camera straps. Its creator, photographer and leather crafter Todd Balsley, was frustrated with the lack of flexible solutions to his shooting needs. “If it was a wedding, the harness style setup made a lot of sense but felt uncomfortable to wear and was just an overly bulky setup for everyday shooting. I found other camera straps with innovation, but they involved wearing what felt like a seatbelt. Overall, I just disliked the material choice,” he said
So, discontent with all the offerings in the market, he decided to make his own.
With Balsley being a leatherworker, leather just had to be the material of choice for the Anchor Strap. He also wanted it to be a comfortable strap right from the beginning, so he designed it to include a neck piece and the “highest quality leather that is tanned to feel broken-in from day one.” The strap also has strong Kevlar loops to anchor the straps to the camera, and nickel-plated solid brass hardware for the clips and grommets.
There are three sizing options available for the Anchor Strap: Small at 34″, Medium at 40″ (the most popular size), and Large at 46″.
A harness strap may work for you if you’re shooting a wedding or an event. But it’s definitely too much if you’re just going out on a relaxed shoot or on a trip. With its simple yet functional design, it’s easy to switch the strap between different cameras. Simply attach a pair of anchors to all your cameras and you end up with one strap for all of them.
With 25 days left in the campaign, you can still back this project and grab the Anchor Strap in black or brown leather, plus two sets of anchors for an Early Bird pledge of $68 on Kickstarter.
