If you like your smartphone with not one, not two, but THREE Leica lenses, the newly-launched HUAWEI Mate 20 Series is something you might want to check out.
Huawei continues to make significant enhancements to up its mobile photography game with the announcement of the HUAWEI Mate 20 Series. Building on the camera system of their P20 Series, the company equipped the HUAWEI Mate 20 Series with an additional 16mm Ultra Wide Angle Lens that also supports macro distance. With this powerful addition, the company’s latest flagship smartphones promise that you can easily go wide (and fit more people into your group selfies) or get close (to capture as much detail in your favorite latte shot as possible).
The new HUAWEI flagship series, comprised of the Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 X, and Porsche Design Mate 20 RS (for now, let’s take a look at the first two models) are powered by the KIrin 980 chipset, currently the company’s densest and highest performing system on chip (SoC). It also boasts of improved performance and enhanced battery life, especially for the Mate 20 Pro, which has a 4200mAh battery and supports the 40W HUAWEI SuperCharge and 15W HUAWEI Wireless Quick Charge. These make sense given all the new features brought on by the series’ Matrix Camera System.
The Mate 20 Pro is fitted with a 6.39-inch display, a 40 MP main camera, a 20 MP ultra wide angle camera, and an 8 MP telephoto camera. It also supports 3D Depth Sensing Camera feature. The Mate 20, meanwhile, has a slightly bigger 6.53-inch display, 12 MP main camera (f1.8) a 16 MP Ultra Wide Angle camera (f2.2), and 8 MP telephoto camera (f2.4). Both models come with a 24 MP front camera (f2.0), support for autofocus (laser focus, phase focus, contrast focus), and Huawei AI Image Stabilization. Looks like the Mate 20 Pro will appeal to those looking to maximize the three lenses, and the Mate 20 will be enough for those who are curious about what a three-lensed smartphone can do.
According to Huawei, the 16mm Leica Ultra Wide Angle Lens creates a sense of spaciousness, on top of the three-dimensional effect on the images. As for the macro support, the new lens can produce crisp images of objects placed as close as 2.5cm from the lens. The trio of lenses boasts of producing results from professional cameras with an all-around performance equivalent to that of a 16-270mm zoom lens.
The HUAWEI Mate 20 is now available at 4GB RAM + 128GB ROM configuration for âĴ799, and at 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM configuration for âĴ849. Meanwhile, the HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro is available at 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM configuration for âĴ1,049.
