SURPRISE! Fujifilm has some new software and updates coming out today!
We have known for a while that Fujifilm was planning on releasing a series of firmware updates for their X-Series and GFX cameras. Today, the first round of those firmware updates were released for the Fujifilm X-T2, X-T20, and GFX-50s. As well, the company launched the Mac version of their new X RAW Studio image processing software. For those who need a reminder, the X RAW Studio is the software which Fujifilm announced a few months back that allows photographers to connect their X-Series camera to their computer to utilize it’s built in specialized RAW conversion hardware. The idea is that it will allow photographers the ability to have the convenience of processing their images on their computer, but the performance of the in-camera processor.
Think of it like an on-computer version of the image processing capabilities available internally on your X-Series camera. This makes it easier than ever to get those gorgeous Fujifilm Jpegs without the disadvantage of having to review them on the small camera LCD screen. It is a sort of niche piece of software for sure, but thankfully Fujifilm are making it available for free, and worth downloading to at least try out.
The windows version of Fujifilm’s X RAW Studio is expected out in February of 2018.
