Just the other day a buddy of mine and I were at a Ritz closing sale shopping for a tripod. We looked around and we found a cheap tripod that functioned as a tripod and when the center twisted you could remove it and use it as a monopod. I said if there were a reputable company who made this same tripod I would be very interested. Well this little guy is called the MeFoto by Benro and they are in fact a reputable company, this is a new line of tripods by them that come in many colors. Im not sure if I would buy a color other than titanium shown above but they also come in a gold, blue green and red.
This little guy is what a lot of people are looking for in a travel tripod, it is 15.4″ folded and stretches out to 61.6″ and when used as a monopod it can reach almost 6 feet tall at 64″. The MeFoto tripod comes with a 360 degree arca swiss ballhead that has a separate head and pan lock. The legs come in my preference which is a twist release system and these legs can stretch 180 degrees which also happens to be preferred.
More details on the tripod can be found on Benro’s website here. If you would like to pick you can find them here at B&H for $229.
