Here Is What Fujifilm Needs to Do with X-Trans IV; My Wish List

It’s about time for an X-Trans upgrade in the Fujifilm X-Series

As was widely publicized when Fujifilm launched their new X-H 1 a while back, their current X-Trans sensor technology dates back to the launch of the X-pro 2. It is a fine sensor, and the X-Processor Pro which accompanies it is solid as well. But in today’s world tech moves fast and three years is a long time. So we can probably expect the next generation of X-Trans to be coming soon. As such, I wanted to take a minute to talk about some of the things on my X-Trans IV wish list.

New Fujifilm GFX 50s X Series Firmware Boosts Performance of Various Cameras

Fujifilm is at it again, announcing firmware updates to six cameras coming over the next two months

Canon Remains #1 and Fujifilm Posts Astounding Gains In Latest Market Reports

Unsurprisingly, Canon Has Retained Its Spot at #1 in 2017

Many were wondering if this would be the year, the year that Canon slips from the #2 spot in Full Frame and APS-C camera sales in the USA, and it has been shown that in fact, no, it would be not this year. Canon announced today the company, despite growing photographer frustration with their unwillingness to innovate and push forward in the space, they were yet again the number one seller of Full Frame and APS-C cameras in North America.

You can find the full press release about this below, but clearly it was a response – in part, at least – to that Nikon announcement a few weeks back indicating that they had the #1 spot in full frame sales over the Holiday season in 2017. Continue reading…

Fujifilm Releases New Firmware Updates for X-E3 and X-Pro2

Fujifilm has released a new firmware that fixes an X-Pro2 bug and brings added GPS features to the X-E3.

The other edge of the double-edged sword that is Fujifilm’s strategy of constantly updating and upgrading their cameras through firmware updates is that there will be bugs that make it through the QA process here or there. Sometimes more severe than others, and sometimes rather benign or just more annoying than anything else.

The good thing is that because the company has such an efficient firmware update process and workflow internally, generally these issues are not around for long. That is the case with an odd issue which plagued the [amazon_textlink asin=’B01A8DUR74′ text=’X-Pro2′ template=’ProductLink’ store=’thephobl-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’26b8283f-fa20-11e7-98d4-c3cf92dea97d’] after its update to firmware version 4.0 at the end of last month. Additionally, Fujifilm also released a new firmware for the [amazon_textlink asin=’B0759G8F8N’ text=’X-E3′ template=’ProductLink’ store=’thephobl-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’2df9e9e9-fa20-11e7-8d13-35c74cbce81f’] which fixes some small bugs that were causing issues with that camera, as well as introduced a new GPS related feature.

Fujifilm’s New X-E3 Shoots 4K, has Improved AF Tracking, and AF Joystick!

We have been hearing rumors now about the Fujifilm X-E3 for some time and now the wait is officially over, with the company making the announcement just a short while ago. This update brings the X-E line of cameras into the latest generation of Fujifilm technology and also comes with some exciting new additions!

Starting from the top, the Fujifilm X-E3 features the same 24.3MP X-Trans III sensor and X-Processor Pro combination that the rest of the latest generation Fujifilm cameras have, so image quality is likely to be nearly identical to the X-Pro2, X-T2, and X-T20. In addition to that though, the X-E3 also features a touchscreen as well as the much loved AF Joystick that was featured on the X-Pro2 and X-T2 (making the X-T20 the only odd man out).

Wait What?! Reports Indicate Fujifilm X-E3 May Not Have D-Pad

If you have ever used a Fujifilm camera over the last several years, you will know how integral the d-pad has been to the control layout of the camera. Not only was this how you would navigate the menus, but this was also a whole array of function buttons that you could set in the menu. Which makes the revelation in some recent reports that the upcoming Fujifilm X-E3 will not have a d-pad at all.

One aspect of the X-E3 that has been reported for some time now is that it will have the AF joystick that the [amazon_textlink asin=’B01I3LNMAM’ text=’X-T2′ template=’ProductLink’ store=’thephobl-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’d561c88b-8c10-11e7-ae49-c555c0be1e66′] and X-Pro2 enjoy, and more recent reports indicate that it is expected to have a touch screen as well, something the [amazon_textlink asin=’B01A8DUR74′ text=’X-Pro2′ template=’ProductLink’ store=’thephobl-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’5de460e3-8c11-11e7-92d4-2d84f4fd7e8b’] lacks.

Cheap Photo: X-E2s Is A Heck of a Deal Right Now!

Fujifilm may be getting ready to launch their X-E3 at some point later this fall, but that aside, the X-E2s is the most recent X-Series camera to feature that killer 16MP X-Trans II sensor. Right now the X-E2s is available for a stupid good deal at just under $500. This may not have been our favorite X-Trans II based camera at its original pricing, but for under $500, this is a hell of a lot of camera you are getting for less than a Canon EOS-M kit… yeah, and this would blow those out of the water.

Picture of Fujifilm’s Upcoming X-E3 Becomes Clearer in Latest Reports

Fujifilm has brought their latest technologies to all of their main X-series cameras except one – the X-E line. So naturally, the common line of thought is that a potential X-E3 is likely to be the company’s next announcement. For those unaware, the X-E3 would be to the [amazon_textlink asin=’B01A8DUR74′ text=’X-Pro2′ template=’ProductLink’ store=’thephobl-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’c266e20b-76da-11e7-ac42-539da8a3b084′] what the X-T20 is to the X-T2, but the latest reports are indicating that we may have some surprise additions to the X-E line to sweeten the deal a little.
