For over 20 years, Eddie Soloway has been teaching landscape photography workshops and has led seminars for National Geographic. During this time he noticed that many of his clients were not looking for technical refinement but more of a creative bootcamp. “UnPresidented”: A Photo Documentary Book on Trump’s Inauguration

A current Kickstarter campaign called “UnPresidented” hopes to capture the drama and hope as the country converges on the nation’s capital city to at once celebrate and come to terms with what many see as an uncertain future. “UnPresidented” will feature the work of 20 street photographers working in the D.C. area, including Albert Ting, Chris Suspect, Victoria Pickering, and Bridget Murray Law – all bringing their own style and perspective to the project.

Photographer Sean Bonner’s New Book Project Documents People on the Streets of Japan

Los Angeles and Tokyo based photographer, Sean Bonner, has launched a Kickstarter campaign for his planned book project featuring Tokyo street photography. Captured around the streets near his office in Shibuya and surrounding Tokyo, the series of images captures citizens as they go about their day-to-day journey. Bonner has launched the campaign to raise funding for the book, which he hopes will contain around 35 final pages and printed in an 8.5” x 8.5” square format. California based MyDrone has launched a Kickstarter campaign for an all-new drone of the same name. Aimed at cinematographers, sports enthusiasts, and those looking to get into drones with limited knowledge, the MyDrone features several auto-follow modes while recording video in 4K resolution. Control can be done through either the MyDrone Sports Watch, giving users access to a variety of settings for commanding the unit, or manual piloting using the remote control with smartphone integration. “The King” Lives On In Adam Nicholson’s Elvis 40th Anniversary Photo Exhibition

Elvis fan and avid collector, Adam Nicholson, has launched a Kickstarter campaign featuring his collection of iconic photographs of Elvis Presley taken during the 1970s by photographer Ed Bonja. Bonja was the official photographer and tour manager for Presley from 1970-1977 and photographed many of his album covers. After a chance encounter, Nicholson partnered up with Bonja in 2012 and eventually came to own the collection of rare photographs, valued at $165,000. He plans for the exhibition to be a statewide tour and is currently seeking to raise $5,763 to go towards production expenses.  Continue reading…

Hawaii based photographer Keri Nakahashi launched a Kickstarter campaign for her children’s book project, 123: Dogs in Hawaii. The book is meant to introduce kids to ten different dog breeds while simultaneusly teaching them how to count from one to ten. In addition, the book seeks to promote quality time between parents and children through reading and of course elicit happy reactions from the photos. Music photographer Tracy Anne Hart has launched a Kickstarter campaign for her planned photo exhibition, Absolute Music.

Tracy Anne Hart has been a music photographer for over 30 years. Based in Texas, her work has featured iconic musicians such as Vintage Trouble, Joe Ely, Billy Gibbons, and more. She recently completed a book of photos featuring Stevie Ray Vaughan along with many of his influences such as his brother and other players he followed. The exhibition will be in anticipation of the book’s upcoming release. The show will feature live music and a portion of the show’s proceeds will be donated to one of Vaughan’s favorite charities.

Pawsitive Change Seeks to Create Portraits for a Good Cause

Central Florida based, Pawsitive Change, has launched a Kickstarter for their latest project. The non-profit group hopes to provide simple, portrait style photos for animal rescue groups of families and their animal friends. The goal of the Kickstarter will be to raise $550 to apply for 501(c)3 tax exemption, making the company an official non-profit organization. This will also allow them to apply for special grants only given to non-profits. Currently the company finds themselves in the red, but foresees the funds from Kickstarter as a way to move them into the black and keep them there.  Continue reading…

Actor and now social media app developer, Troy Akin, has launched a Kickstarter campaign for his latest project, ModelBs. The app is designed to connect models and photographers in a safe and efficient manner. Similar to the popular dating app, Tinder, users will swipe right on models/photographers they wish to work with and if they match, they move on to the next step in setting up a photo shoot. The project is currently seeking to raise $50,000 in start-up funding with an estimated launch of March 2017.

The Hitch Hiker Claims to be a Gravity-Defying, Balanced-Motion Tripod Head

Father and son team Charles and Jake Riddel have developed a unique new tripod head. The Hitch Hiker is a “balanced-motion” tripod head designed to provide smooth two-axis panning, precise control, and accurate photo composition. Coupled with their background in engineering, the idea came from their experience with astronomy,  where precision movement is key for viewing and research. Bay Area photographer, Matt Kurtin, has launched a Kickstarter campaign for his upcoming book documenting the history of skateboarding. Working with one type of film, one lens, and one camera for the entire project, Kurtin seeks to showcase the skateboarding world in a more compassionate light than previously done before. After breaking his own ankle while skateboarding, Kurtin picked up a camera and photography quickly became an obsession. His current project will combine his two passions into a four part photo book.
