One of the biggest things that makes no sense to me as a strobist photographer is why we don’t have any sort of universal TTL flash metering system. Instead of that, every single camera manufacturer has their own for the sake of being able to compete with one another while delivering flashes that essentially all do the same thing. It’s a hassle for photographers moving from one system to another. To understand this and my reasoning, you need to understand how TTL Flash metering works.
Instagram has published some new, and honestly fairly impressive, statistics over on their blog today. The company is introducing the new WD Pro Series: which includes the My Passport Wireless Pro Wi-Fi mobile storage and My Cloud Pro Series network attached storage (NAS).
Photographer Navid Baratay was previously on this site for his Intersection piece, but he’s also the creator of a really amazing series involving food and a photo scanner. Navid arranges all the pieces very carefully to make them look like a scene from outer space. In fact, it would probably be otherwise very tough to tell the difference.
Buying a flash for many photographers is pretty complicated. It’s simple enough for most people to understand megapixels, RAW, etc because camera manufacturers put enough marketing into it to do so. But they unfortunately don’t do enough to market their flashes and what they’re capable of. Instead, you as a photographer need to go into …
Landscape photography is so much more than driving out to a remote location and snapping a few images. It takes time, dedication, planning, and lots of trial and error. When we first came across these incredible images from Franz Sußbauer for his series ‘Winter in Norway,’ we that they were something special. Anyone can go out and snap some landscape snapshots, but capturing nature’s emotion, the ebb and flow, and to do so in such detail – that takes talent and know how. “My plan was to make great pictures of a great landscape. Pictures like paintings with a hyper-realistic mood.”Franz said of the series.
