Canon cameras are pretty exceptional in many ways. The SLR models were pretty innovative and ahead of their time, while the mirrorless cameras are now catching up with the technology. One great example is the use of cameras for night photography. With more and more cameras becoming better at low light, here is a look at a few from Canon that continue to be the go-to option for many.
Canon R1

The R1 is a great camera for many reasons. The device has a 24MP full frame back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor, a 9.44-million-dot EVF, and an ISO range of 200 to 102,400. The camera’s focusing is quick and great, and it focuses on birds really well. But not so much when it comes photographing people of color. As for the images, we said, “I’ve always loved how Canon cameras render colors, and for someone who’s a bit lazy when editing, being able to make minimal crops instead of fully altering a RAW file’s color is why I want to root for Canon as a camera manufacturer.” Overall, you get a fast device, and the resoution keeps the images clean.
Canon R3

The R3 is another 24MP camera with Eye Control AF, 30 fps top burst speed, and reduced rolling shutter distortion. The camera can focus down to -7.5 EV, and the autofocus is pretty great. It can document the horse and rider coming towards the photographer with ease. “Face detection still worked for these shots that were too dark for me to even see the subject’s eyes through the viewfinder,” we said in our review. As for image quality, it was great during the day and remained the same at night. “Between shooting flying birds on a cloudy day with an f4 lens and shooting night portraits and landscapes, I spent a lot of time at high ISOs. And I was rarely unhappy with the results,” we added. The camera is pretty for anyone keen on shooting mostly in low light.
Canon R6 II

The EOS R6 II features a 24MP camera and a Special Scene mode that helps both serious and young photographers. It features excellent weather resistance, making it able to withstand snow. It has a fast autofocus, is accurate, and does an excellent job tracking people, animals, birds, and vehicles. The white balance is accurate, and skin tones are fantastic in the images. JPEGs also deliver vibrant colors and details. As for the high ISO images, the R6 II showcases the same results as the Canon EOS. As we said, “Pictures captured at ISO 12,800 are perfectly suitable for digital reproduction. It creates better results than my 5D Mk III at ISO 6,400.”
