Every year, Lensrentals releases information on some of their most rented camera gear around. You’re bound to see that around the web today. But the Phoblographer has some exclusive information: the stuff that they sold the most of. Yes, Lensrentals does a lot of product sales too. If you’re often looking for a refurbished camera in really good condition, Lensrentals is usually the place to get it. I usually only buy refurbished gear because it’s typically cheaper and has gone through stricter finalization checks before it goes out for sale. So you’re going to want to see this very special list of the most purchased camera gear of 2024.

The Most Purchased Photography Gear of 2024

Here’s the summary:

  • A lot of cinema gear was sold by Lensrentals last year. However, we’ve taken those pieces out of the table below.
  • Canon, Sony, and DJI dominate this list. Rentals are often done by professional photographers. So that means that professionals are often reaching for Canon and Sony more than any other brand.
  • The Canon 5D Mk IV, which we reviewed back in 2016, is the most sold Canon camera by Lensrentals.
  • The most purchased Sony camera is the Sony a7s III.
  • The Phoblographer and Lensrentals have a very close working relationship. They’re often our gear provider when other brands can’t get gear to us in a timely manner.

  • The most sold Sony lens is the 70-200mm f2.8 GM OSS original, which we reviewed back in 2016. The new version came out back in 2021.
  • The most purchased Canon lens is the 70-200mm f2.8 IS III. When it came out, we started to deprioritize DSLR coverage, and we didn’t even bother reviewing it.
