The DoBox Pro promises to help you get more done while on the road with your iPad Pro.
Thanks to the recent update to the new iPadOS, users of Apple’s iPad Pro series, and even users of regular iPad’s have seen some dramatic changes to their tablets. The latest update added a host of new features, including support for external storage, mouse and trackpad support, and full file management. As you can imagine, many users now see the iPad Pros as a viable alternative to carrying around a full-blown laptop. Companies like DoBox Ltd are now making accessories that make that even more feasible. Their new DoBox Pro is aimed at iPad Pro power users like photographers, and it will bring a lot of connectivity options to the platform.
DoBox Ltd has been running a campaign on Kickstarter, and it has proven to be quite popular so far: the company has raised funds beyond its initial goal of $20,000. There’s still time remaining before the campaign ends. The DoBox Pro is an accessory we have seen before. In fact, we wrote about another item like this recently. But, the DoBox Pro does add some unique features to keyboard and trackpad accessories for Apple iPad products.
The DoBox Pro adds everything previous iPad keyboards have and then expands on the concept a little more. As you can see from the image above, the design is clean and clutter-free. The keyboard is laser engraved so that the full backlighting can shine through, and the trackpad is designed for ease of use. The large trackpad should make navigating apps and editing pictures in programs like Lightroom Mobile a piece of cake. The cutout that the iPad Pro sits in is big enough to accommodate the 12.9-inch iPad Pro without issue.
What makes the DoBox Pro a little more unique is the number of connectivity options it will bring to iPad Pro users. On the back of the device, you’ll find an Ethernet port, a micro SD card slot (huge for photographers), a headphone jack, an HDMI port, and two USB 3.0 ports. There is no doubt that these ports will come in useful for photographers. Being able to take your SD card out of your camera and put straight in the DoBox Pro will make importing images much easier. If you’re not a fan of doing things that way, you can always attach your camera via one of fast the USB ports as well.
While you can’t see it in this image, the DoBox Pro even has a port where you can add M.2 SATA storage of up to two Terabytes in size. Having so much ultra-fast storage on your tablet will amend the issue of tablets not having much native storage. You’ll be able to save thousands of your RAW and JPEG images and access them quickly, even if you only own the 64GB iPad Pro. Inside, you’ll find a 16,000 mAh battery you can use to charge your iPad and other Apple devices. You could even charge your camera from the DoBox Pro if it supports USB charging.
The DoBox Pro can be yours if you want to pledge $119 to the Kickstarter campaign. That price will get you the DoBox Pro and a Lightning or USB C cable. If you miss that Early Bird special, you’ll have to fork over $199. The DoBox Pro is available in both Space Gray and Silver, and it should begin shipping to backers by April, 2020. If you would like more information about this iPad Pro accessory, head on over to the official Kickstarter website.
