The Sony 24-105mm f4 G OSS lens may be perfect for wedding photographers
One of the new announcements today is the Sony 24-105mm F4 G OSS FE–a lens that Sony is touting as really fantastic in many ways. 24-105mm F4 lenses have always targeted the wedding and event photographers amongst the professional world; but they’re also often used as kit lenses. In this case, Sony is still sort of debating whether or not this will be one, but they’re probably not going to do it. Also, just to be clear, this isn’t a G Master lens, but instead it is a G series lens.
The Sony 24-105mm F4 G OSS FE has a whole lot to it too. Sony is heavily touting the corner to corner sharpness vs Canon and Nikon’s versions yet in the presentation we were in, Sony seemed to not bring up Sigma’s very fantastic offering. The new Sony 24-105mm F4 G OSS FE also has features like dust and moisture resistance built in with a constant f4 aperture throughout the range.
This lens is designed to be smaller than pretty much all the rest on the market too: which means Sigma, Canon and Nikon. It’s also very light at 663 grams. It is made with 17 lens elements in 14 groups that have 4 aspherical elements and 3 ED glass elements. Additionally, there is fluorine coating on the lenses.
Full tech specs are below. You can expect the new Sony 24-105mm F4 G OSS FE to come in at $1,299.99 too.
