This week Seagate unveiled a new member of its Backup Plus Portable Hard Drive Family in an all-new 5TB capacity. According to Seagate, it’s currently the world’s largest capacity mobile drive. Aimed at consumers creating large volumes of content as well as content in higher-resolutio (think 4K video) the Backup Plus Portable 5TB drive aims to give users plenty of space and reliable performance.
Unique to this model of Seagate’s Backup Plus family is the inclusion of a new internal BarraCuda drive. The new Barracuda features a breakthrough 2.5-inch 1TB platter which Seagate announced only last month. The Backup Plus 5TB drive will be the first to ship with the new Barracuda drive. Additional features include customizable backup options with Seagate Dashboard, PC and MAC compatibility, USB 3.0 connectivity, and a slim 20.5 mm form factor with aluminum covering for added durability.
