Pentax’s K-3 Gets Announced; Comes in Black and Silver

There were rumors and even reports that Pentax’s K-3 would be a full frame camera. And today, the company is going official. Ricoh is officially announcing the Pentax K-3 DSLR: which at the moment of publishing this piece, we’re not sure if this replaces the K-5 II or not. Either way, the K-3 is a 24MP APS-C DSLR that can shoot 8.3 fps, a selectable anti-aliasing filter (which is quite interesting technology), an 86,000 pixel metering sensor, H.264 video capabilities, weather sealing with a magnesium alloy body, a 100% viewfinder, and boasts an ISO range from 100-51,200.

From what it looks like on paper, it seems like a very big contender to our Editor’s Choice award winner the Nikon D7100.

Ricoh is also announcing today a brand new lens in the form of their 55-300mm f4-5.8 ED WR. The lens sports Pentax’s new HD coatings recently announced, weather resistance and ED elements.

Tech specs and more images are after the jump. The K3 is available for body only at the price of $1,296.95, $1,646.95 with the 18-135mm lens, and $1,596.95 for the silver version.
