Review: The Urban Quiver Camera Bag
The Urban Quiver is a camera bag by the folks over at Blackstone, and is also perhaps one of the more unusual camera bags I’ve tested. Admittedly, I’m not a fan of backpacks because I feel that they slow me down when shooting. Because of this, I opt for bags like the Think Tank Retrospective 30 and Domke F2; both the Think Tank and Domke received positive reviews from us. When this bag was first announced, not only did my inner nerd cry out, but it piqued the interest of many across the internet.
Field Review: Olympus E-5 (Day 5)
The art filters of the Olympus E-5 were cool, but they wouldn’t be able to help us in practical shooting situations (at least I couldn’t conclude that they could.) One of the major critiques of the Olympus E-5 is the high ISO abilities. I’m not going to lie, they are fairly horrid and anything beyond 1600 is something that I may not use, ever. This is what many studio or portrait photographers that are just starting out tend to do: in addition to ignoring what wireless strobes can do for you! Using a home made white box that I made over a year and a half ago, the E-5 and Olympus FL-50 flash went to work photographing items.
PocketWizard Rebate on MiniTT1 and FlexTT5 radios for Canon
The video above is perhaps one of the weirdest PR video ever. Everyone knows that no one in the world sounds like the teacher from Charlie Browne.
If you’re into great lighting and you’re a Canon shooter, there is a $25 rebate on the MiniTT1 and FlexTT5. For those of you not familiar with PocketWizard products, you actually need to buy both units. One goes on the camera and the other goes on the flash. The units make the flash think that it is on the camera. It’s best to leave the flash in E-TTL mode in this case but it gives you light essentially wherever you need it.
If you need flashes, I recommend the 430EX IIand the 580EX II
. And if you’re a fan of diffusers, you’ll want to check out this posting. To learn more about wireless flash usage, check this out.
