Nikon has been changing its marketing strategy with the launch of its mirrorless cameras. In recent weeks, we have learned that Nikon will concentrate on mid- and high-end camera developments for future generations. This isn’t surprising, as many other camera makers have followed this approach. With smartphones swallowing the entry camera market share with smaller, albeit powerful sensors and better AI capabilities, camera brands are placing all their eggs in the professional units basket. To ensure their higher-end cameras continue to perform, Nikon released some firmware over the years. But now it seems Nikon firmware updates are currently on hold and will likely be further delayed.
