The Phase One XT promises to take landscape photography to new heights.
Phase One is known for creating super high Megapixel Medium Format cameras that are designed to be used in studios. You can, of course, take the previous Phase One Medium Formant cameras into the great outdoors too, but the new 150 Megapixel Phase One XT is small enough to be carried by those who don’t lift weights regularly. You may not need to be strong to use the XT, but your wallet needs to be ready for some heavy lifting. The new Phase One XT is being billed as a travel-ready, digitally integrated field camera that will bring landscape photography to a whole new level. With a 150 Megapixel Full Frame (645) Medium Format sensor onboard, it’s hard to see how this won’t be the case.
The Phase One XT integrates components of the highest quality (which is what we expect from Phase One cameras) into the smallest body possible. The camera has been designed exclusively for Phase One, and it offers intuitive ergonomics and incredibly straightforward, easy to use controls. This design should allow any photographer to focus on capturing the scene in front of them rather than become bogged down in a myriad of complicated controls.
Three new lenses from Rodenstock will be available to use on the Phase One XT as well. There is a Rodenstock HR Digaron-S 23mm f5.6, a Rodenstock HR Digaron-W 32mm f4, and a Rodenstock HR Digaon-W 70mm f5.6. All of the lenses will feature Phase One’s new digitally integrated shutter. The new electromagnetic digitally integrated shutter has been born from Phase One’s work in industrial applications. The lenses will also feature 24mm of shift on both the X and Y axis so that you can correct perspective distortion. The shift feature can also be used to create panoramas and stitched images.
The new Phase One XT is available right now from approved Phase One dealers. The Phase One XT IQ4 has a retail price of $56,900. It will come with your choice of lens and a five-year warranty which includes unlimited lens actuations. For more details head on over to the official Phase One website.
