Sigma’s latest and greatest will soon be available, and now we know how much it will cost you
Sigma’s Art series lenses are in a class of their own among third-party lenses, and in terms of their pricing to performance it is hard to say that they aren’t amongst the best buys on the market in third party lenses. A while back Sigma announced a special lens, a lens they dubbed the ‘Bokeh Master’, but as it happens from time to time, the company just announced the development of the lens, with full pricing and availability information coming at a later date.
Well, that later date is here; we now have pricing and availability information on the Sigma 105mm f1.4 DG HSM Art.
For those in need of a quick refresher, as noted, the “Bokeh Master” 105mm f1.4 DG HSM Art features a minimum f1.4 aperture. This means that, thanks to the DoF at f1.4 plus the effects of compression, this lens is sure to be a bokeh lover’s dream lens – hence the ‘Bokeh Master” moniker Sigma has coined it with. In terms of the lens design itself, the lens is made up of 17 elements in 12 groupings which include three FLD elements, two SLD elements, and one aspherical element. The lens will also feature dust and splash proofing that is normally reserved for Sigma’s Sports line of lenses, so this is a lens you will be able to take out into the world without having to fear unexpected weather patterns.
Sigma also says that the lens will feature a carbon fiber reinforced lens hood and that the Canon version of the lens will be compatible with the Canon Lens Aberration Correction function.
So now for the pricing and availability; Sigma says the 105mm f1.4 DG HSM Art will be available for $1,599 in late June for Canon, Nikon, and Sigma mounts. They do note a Sony E mount version is coming, but availability of that version will be announced at a later time.
