Yesterday we reported on Sigma’s 24-105mm lens appearing on their website, being announced and then disappearing. Today, the company is ready to come clean with the new art lens boasting a constant f4 aperture throughout the zoom range as well as optical stabilization. Meant for full frame cameras, the lens will come in Canon, Nikon, Sony Alpha and Sigma mounts.
As for the stuff you care about, the lens will boast a minimum focusing distance of 45cm–which is pretty darned close. Plus it will have 9 aperture blades for super creamy bokeh and 19 elements in 14 groups. When we think about this lens, we can’t help but wonder if Sigma is late to the game on this one as Nikon has a 24-120mm f4 zoom lens that is pretty darned solid. Though Sony doesn’t have a near equivalent and Canon’s version has massive calibration issues, it will be interesting to see how this lens will do on the market. We see it doing incredibly well if the price is right.
We can expect it in November of this year, and the company tells us that there’s a strong chance that we’ll be seeing one at Photo Plus. Tech specs are after the jump.
