We have to admit that Lomography does some really cool stuff sometimes. In terms of mass appeal, their new Kickstarter for their mobile phone film scanner should be all the rage up in Portland and other places where film exists. It looks extremely simple to use too; it’s essentially a portable light table that works with your phone’s camera (and apparently an app of some sort) to scan the images in by simply taking a snapshot of the negatives/positives. In fact, you can even turn negatives into positives using the app. Pretty cool, huh?
There are some drawbacks though. Keep in mind that you’re using your phone’s lens; which probably isn’t as sharp as a dedicated film scanner’s glass or a macro lens for your camera if you’re feeling a bit like doing some cool hacks. Also, it only works for 35mm film; so all the 120 users for Diana cameras are out of luck.
Check out the cool demo video after the break.
