Is There Space for an Underwater Micro Four Thirds Camera?

Something I’ve debated for years in my head has to do with Micro Four Thirds. Of course, there’s been a shift in how things operate with the creation of OM Digital solutions. And hopefully, I think that OM System can do something about this. Considering that they’re targeted so heavily at the outdoors, I’ve always wondered why a Micro Four Thirds underwater camera exists. I mean, if anyone could do it, I’m sure it would be OM System.

What Do Photographers Want in Cameras? It’s Really Not Difficult

Content creators are wonderful at what they do. But at the same time, so too are photographers. If you’re a photographer and identify as one, you’ll know that we have much different needs from content creators. We care about documenting a moment and freezing it in time; and we’re also probably annoyed by all the videos we scroll past on social media. Manufacturers say that they’re appealing more and more to the content creator market, but they’ve also majorly lost their way when it comes to appealing to photographers. So here’s an idea of what they can look at.

Is This a New Era for Fujifilm Zoom Lenses?

There are a few announcements today at the Fujifilm X summit. And two of the bigger ones have to do with the new Fujifilm zoom lenses. Today, we’re getting two new zoom lenses from Fujifilm. The company is announcing their 150-600mm f5.6-8 R LM OIS R. There’s also the new 18-120mm f4 LM PZ WR lens. The latter is a powerzoom designed for content creators and journalists that need to shoot while on the move. Overall though, Fujifilm is answering the calls that many photographers have asked for for a while now.

Artificial Intelligence Is Great, but Should It Affect Photographers Fees?

AI is making our lives easier, but is it starting to muddy the waters we wade in?

Artificial Intelligence, or AI for short, has come into the photography world with a vengeance. Not long ago, AI in cameras was limited to merely tracking an object. Now, AI in our cameras can detect and track the eyes of humans and animals. Some cameras have AI that can tell what animal or object you’re tracking. AI can help you focus stack in-camera. It can help create surreal long exposures and so much more. A photographer’s job has never been easier. We ask you this question. Since we’re doing less work, should we still charge as much for our services? Let’s talk about this after the break.

Big News! The PPA and Pixsy Have Partnered to Fight Image Theft

Unfortunately, image theft is rampant these days, but this should help a lot of photographers.

Hopefully, you’ve never been a victim of image theft before. It’s a horrible ordeal to go through, and in many cases, it can be hard to win any case you might have. Especially if your images are not copyrighted. Sharing on social media has just made the problem worse because it’s just so easy for others to take your work. However, now that the PPA (The Professional Photographers of America) has joined forces with Pixsy, it’s easier than ever to take the fight back to those who rip us off. Find out all the partnership details and how you can become a part of this after the break.

Could We See the Return of an Unusual Panasonic Lens?

Panasonic came out with a 3D Lens for Micro Four Thirds years ago; will we see a full-frame version?

Is 3D still kind of a gimmick? I’ve been pondering that for the last few days. So much is possible with technology like LIDAR and depth scanning. But then there’s also the fun stuff. For example, over a decade ago, Panasonic made a 3D lens. The Panasonic 12.5mm f12 was very weird, but at the same time incredibly intriguing. People are yearning for a variety of visual experiences, and this could be something that returns. With Panasonic entering the L mount alliance a few years ago, it’s possible. Of course, I could also just be doing some wishful thinking.

The ASUS ProArt StudioBook One Wants $10,000 From Photographers

The Asus ProArt StudioBook One has been born to handle your 8K video and high-resolution images, but is it worth it?

The photography world is evolving at a blistering pace. It wasn’t too long ago that 24MP camera sensors were considered the cream of the crop, and 1080P video was king, but, in a few short years, we have seen a jump to 61MP and even 100MP sensors in consumer cameras, and video capabilities jumping up to 8K. While this is all well and good, the equipment required to comfortably process images and video at these resolutions has needed to improve too. The new ASUS ProArt StudioBook One will be able to handle everything you throw at it, but it’s $10,000! After the break, we will take a look at what your money will get you, and we will talk about if our desires for more resolution is worth it.

Review: Billingham Hadley Pro 2020 (A Content Creator’s Dream Bag)

A Billingham Hadley Pro 2020 will look and feel fantastic strapped around you.

Bags like the Billingham Hadley Pro 2020 and others have just become better for photographers over the years. Though I’m still partial to a backpack instead of a messenger, this update feels just a bit special. Arguably, the Billingham Hadley Pro 2020 is for photographers. But in use, one could say that it’s for content creators and journalists. Messenger bags over the years have evolved a lot, and the Billingham Hadley Pro 2020 shows evidence of that. The internals were updated to give photographers who shoot with mirrorless systems a bit more organization. Further, you can shove a laptop in this bag along with pretty much every tool you’d possibly need. If you’re the type to go for hot shoe flashes, there’s room for that. But if you tote along a Profoto B10 the way I do, you’ll have a bit more trouble. We’ve taken the Billingham Hadley Pro 2020 with us on planes, on trips, on commutes, to meetings, and everywhere. We’re very impressed. However, this is more of a bag for a content creator than a photographer.

Are You Now Watching Your Favorite Photographers and Creatives on IGTV?

Now that Instagram has launched IGTV, will it be a more popular platform for everyone to watch their favorite creatives than YouTube channels?

With the recent launch of IGTV, Instagram is gearing itself up to be more than just a platform for sharing and checking out visual content. While IGTV is a separate app that you can watch — as its name suggests — like your usual TV, you can also watch videos from the content creators you follow within the Instagram app. Could this mean that we may all eventually move from YouTube channels to IGTV channels to watch our favorite photographers share their tips and tricks?
