One of the most important things that any portrait photographer tries to convey is how to tell a story about someone in one image. That’s a challenge that Canon Australia recently gave to six different photographers all tasked with photographing the same man.
But here’s the catch: they were all given different back stories about the man. One was told he was a psychic, the other that he’s a former inmate, another that he’s a fisherman, another that he’s a millionaire, etc.
The man is a paid actor who obviously played along into the stereotypes and during each session with each photographer, he took on different personas. Because of this, they all shot him in different ways to convey a bit about who they were told he is.
