Are you excited yet? Sony Alpha Rumors is reporting on a statement that Photo Club Alpha blogged about explaining that a big Magnum photographer is currently using a full frame NEX interchangeable lens Sony mirrorless camera. Magnum Photos is a fine art documentary agency that hires their photographers to report on more documentary type of stories vs the hard news that Getty and Corbis do. I’m a former intern of theirs–and their photographers include Alex Webb, Bruce Gilden, Susan Meiselas and loads more. If this camera is in the hands of a Magnum photographer then that means that it is being targeted at not only the street photography/documentary crowd but also at the Leica world. Leica cameras have long been the mainstay amongst Magnum photographers.
Rumors about the camera have been all around the web for a while now, and everyone is eagerly awaiting some sort of announcement. But they’re not just rumors–patents have also been spotted.
