Earlier this year at TechCrunch Disrupt, a new light meter was shown off. It’s called the Lumu, and plugs into your iPhone to take light readings. Today, they’re launching a KickStarter to get funding for the project. The Lumu is a little dongle that plugs into the headphone jack of your iPhone and takes a light reading to tell you what settings to use based the variables that you punch into the meter. They’re great to use if you have an older film camera without a built in meter–but most photographers use them in studios these days. It’s similar to the Luxi that we also saw earlier on. Confused? The Lumu only measures ambient light at the moment but can probably for sure also measure the output from flashes. Otherwise, we don’t see much of a use for this item as most modern cameras have awesome light metering capabilities as it is.
