Older cameras are now making a massive comeback. One of the reasons being that older tech still works just as well, proving that you don’t need to spend thousands of dollars. If you are looking to buy a camera, these options can be of help.
Samsung NX1
Samsung has created some lovely cameras and the NX1 is one such model. The device is the winner of the Editor’s Choice Award, as it offers a 28.2MP BSI APS-C CMOS sensor and a 2360k-dot OLED EVF. The camera is designed like a DSLR offering multiple buttons and customization. The photos are crisp, and the colors are vivid. The images are really sharp, too. The design is similar to the NX30, meaning you get plenty of controls to get the image right. “The NX1, however, is one of those cameras that can stand very close to a full-frame camera that can perform just as well, if not better in some cases,” we said in our review.
Nikon D810
Nikon has made some lovely DSLRs and the Nikon D810 is proof of that. It offers a 36.3MP full-frame CMOS sensor, 3D AF tracking, and a burst rate of 5 fps. The device has exceptional build quality, it can track subjects well, and in low-light, it can hold very well. The images offer nice color rendition, with vivid shades. As we added in our review, “The RAW file versatility of the camera is indeed quite good, but we’ve always come to expect this from Nikon. The color depth and the dynamic range is overall quite good.” Overall, it is a perfect camera for everyday use.
Sony A7 MK II
Sony has made lovely mirrorless cameras and the Sony a7 Mk II was launched a few years afterward. The camera offers a 24MP full frame sensor, a 2.36M-Dot OLED EVF, and the camera is built better than the a7. The autofocus is sharper and snappy, and works better than the a7. The images are clean, colorful, and with Sony’s own lenses, you get color versatility. ISO is good until 1600, which means you can shoot with ease. All of this under $1000.
Canon 7D Mk II

Predecessor to the R7, the 7D II features a 20MP sensor with Dual DIGIC 6 imaging processors. The controls are minimal, and largely at the back. The camera also offers a nice, sturdy build quality as well as weather sealing. The autofocus is perfect, and it is better than Nikon’s. You can easily track subjects, which makes life easy. As we added, “The 7D Mk II outdid pretty much everything that we’ve ever tested from Nikon in low light shooting situations.” One can pull lots of details from the highlights, and the camera offers a lot of color depth. The RAW files are better, giving you a chance to play with color depth. The results are as good as other brands.
Fujifilm X-T1

The first X-T series camera, it offers a 16.3MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS II sensor, a 2,360k-Dot LCD, and has nice weather resistance. The body is designed well, has a large grip, and you get a wide range of lenses to work with. The best autofocus comes from the Single AF, which works well in most lighting conditions. Speaking about the images, we added, “The X-T1 produced beautiful images with bright colors, deep blacks, and crisp sharpness.” Moreover, the high ISO results with film-like quality, which reminds one of older generations of cameras.
