Sometimes, I look at vintage photos of people on vacation and see how much of a blast they had. These days, folks tend to slap filters on the images after editing. But with this camera you can fast-track your look. With the LUMIX S9, you can use the Real Time LUT feature to conjure up the look of old film photographs. Then all you really need to do is tell the camera whether you want it to be brighter or darker. Since it’s your vacation, why not just shoot in program mode? After all, you trust yourself enough to know how to get a great image.
Combine that with things like human detection to photograph your companions who are joining you and you’ll be in a really solid place to just mostly enjoy the vacation and not put too much emphasis on making the perfect image.

Because of the great image stabilization inside and the high resolution shot mode, you can know for a fact that you won’t need to bring a ton of heavier zoom lenses. Don’t get us wrong, traveling with one of these lenses can be nice. But there are totally times when it’s too hot outside and you don’t want to bring it with you. There’s something to be said for not having a camera on you at times to be in the moment more. But that also means that the camera got in the way of you enhancing the moment with taking more photos.
