To continue pushing the needle, The Phoblographer is looking to grow and sustainably expand the staff.

Hi everyone,

The Phoblographer is doing a call for part-time positions here on staff. Two of them are for international hires, and one positively must be filled within the USA. We pride ourselves on diverse hiring amongst our contractors. It’s important to us and the audience. We’re continuing to evolve, and you can be part of one of the most significant changes we’ve made in many years. Check out the listing below.

Editor’s Note: The Photo Editor position already has many fantastic applicants, and I’m still going through them. It just keeps getting put off for one reason or another. But if I’ve contacted you about the position, know that you’re still in the back of my mind.

Reviews Editor (Hiring Only Within the US with No Exceptions

The Phoblographer requires a brand new Reviews Editor. When I bring this person onto the staff, I want it to send shockwaves through the photo world. I’m looking for the best candidate, and that ultimately comes first as the site has to maintain its integrity. But I love the idea of adding a female Reviews Editor to the site, a fellow millennial, or another minority. Again though, I’m an adult, and I realize that I can’t have everything I want. And most important to this position is lots of experience and photography knowledge.

Further, it’s mandatory that you can handhold a camera exposure to at least 1 second and create a shot without camera shake. No newbies here, we’re really not playing around for this position. Our ideal candidate will be a great team player and also follow these guidelines. FYI, this is a part-time position.

Requirements

– Must be proficient with WordPress. This is absolutely mandatory. Other apps that we use are Trello, Gmail for work, and Grammarly.

– Strong command of the English language; the American dialect and spelling is mandatory. Being able to create enticing leads and headlines will really convince us.

– Previous camera and lens review writing experience. Ideally, we’d like to see articles that you’ve written.

– The Phoblographer champions its ethics and has since day one. We refuse to work with Unsplash and believe that creators should be compensated ethically. And we’re also looking for someone with high moral standards.

– Must have industry technical knowledge. We’re talking about more than just apertures and shutter speeds. You also need a working knowledge of lighting, posing, filters, etc. You’ll need to be able to demonstrate it too.

– Review output varies. But in an ideal world, I’d say one or two a week. I’m taking a more significant step forward back into reviews. Reviews are between 750 and 2500 words typically. This is a freelance job. No one on staff (except for me) needs to work more than 8 to 12 hours a week. Mental health is vital to us. If you’re working longer than that, then you’re doing something very wrong. We’ve had people waste a lot of time before unnecessarily, and we’re not looking for that. The site treats its workers very well, and we expect the same in return.

– Must be able to meet deadlines and have open communication. If you’re going to be late on pieces, just know that you’re going to throw off an entire process. You should do the basic courtesy of letting me know. I’m not a monster. I just believe in fairness.

– Must work well with a team and be able to take the guidance (sometimes constructive criticism) well

– You’ll have a trial period of three months.

– Monetary payments are made through PayPal, QuickPay, Venmo, or check. Everyone is paid on average, no more than 24 hours after submitting an invoice. The Phoblographer is well known for fair and honest compensation amongst the photography blogging world.

– We have a very serious non-compete policy.

– You must be based in the US. That’s mandatory

Podcast Editor (HTML Editor, Looking for Someone Outside of the Western Hemisphere)

This is a brand new position that I’m super excited to be adding to the roster. You’ll be working with podcasts, and the site’s new Listen to the Article feature that can be found on various posts Here’s an example. Our ideal candidate will be a great team player and also follow these guidelines. FYI, this is a part-time position.

Requirements

– Must be proficient with WordPress. This is absolutely mandatory. Other apps that we use are Trello, Gmail for work, and Grammarly. This specific position will also be working with another platform that we use. It’s most likely going to involve using Google Docs. So you need to be very organized.

– Strong command of the English language; the American dialect and spelling are mandatory.

– Previous HTML editing experience and, of course, a passion for photography. THIS IS MANDATORY.

– Must have industry technical knowledge. We’re talking about more than just apertures and shutter speeds. You’ll need to be able to demonstrate it too.

– I can’t see this being more than two hours a day of work. Your initial start may be a bit different. But if you’re taking longer than that, you’re doing something wrong. I, a super busy guy, can do this job pretty easily. But there are far more critical things that an EIC should be doing. This is a freelance job. No one on staff (except for me) needs to work more than 8 to 12 hours a week. Mental health is essential to us.

– Must be able to meet deadlines

– Must work well with a team and be able to take the guidance (sometimes constructive criticism) well. You’ll be working very closely with Copy Editor Mark Beckenbach and I.

– You’ll have a trial period of three months.

– Monetary payments are made through PayPal, QuickPay, Venmo, or check. Everyone is paid on average, no more than 24 hours after submitting an invoice. The Phoblographer is well known for fair and honest compensation amongst the photography blogging world.

– We have a very serious non-compete policy.

Vintage Camera Expert (Looking for Outside of the Western Hemisphere)

Based on the type of stuff that we know our readers like to read, we invite you all to participate in our call for a Vintage Camera and Lens Expert. Our ideal candidate will be a great team player and also follow these guidelines. FYI, this is a part-time position.

Requirements

– Must be proficient with WordPress. This is absolutely mandatory. Other apps that we use are Trello, Gmail for work, and Grammarly. This specific position will also be working with another platform that we use.

– Strong command of the English language; the American dialect and spelling are a plus. However, we have a broad international audience, and sometimes the European, Australian, and Asian ways of writing are very appealing to the Phoblographer’s readers. Being able to create enticing leads and headlines will really convince us.

– Previous Vintage camera and lens writing experience. Ideally, we’d like to see articles that you’ve written. You’ll be working on roundups and other vintage-specialty pieces for us.

– Will be able to demonstrate knowledge of copyright laws as they pertain to using images, etc. The Phoblographer champions its ethics and has since day one. We refuse to work with Unsplash and believe that creators should be compensated ethically.

– Must have industry technical knowledge. We’re talking about more than just apertures and shutter speeds. You also need a working vintage knowledge. You’ll need to be able to demonstrate it too.

– One article per business day with variations during certain seasons. Articles like the type that you’ll do for us are between 750 and 1000 words. This is a freelance job. No one on staff (except for me) needs to work more than 8 to 12 hours a week. Mental health is vital to us.

– Must be able to meet deadlines

– Must work well with a team and be able to take the guidance (sometimes constructive criticism) well
