If you’re a fan of modular systems, Bagsmart could be the feature-packed camera backpack for you to check out.
With modular systems being a hot trend today for camera bags and accessories, it’s not surprising to find more of them popping up. The latest of these is Bagsmart Xpedition, a fully modular backpack that promises to serve as a versatile and comfortable carrying companion whether for work, shoots, or travel.
The new Bagsmart backpack can fit three modular sets. The Photography (P) Set is comprised of a small and large Camera Bag; the Lifestyle (B) Set is comprised of a Document Case, a Power Bag, and a Sling Bag; and Traveling (X) Set is comprised of a Garment Bag, a Wash Bag, and a Sling Bag. Each of the components lock snugly onto the fidlock magnetic snaps inside the bag (and the front for the Sling Bag). The backpack itself has a 20L capacity, while the Camera Bag L has a 9L capacity, the Camera Bag S has a 3L capacity, the Garment Bag has an 11L capacity, and the Document Case has a 2L capacity.
As for the materials used, the Xpedition and its components were made using a 100% polyester, with weather-proof exterior for the backpack, Wash Bag, and Camera Bags. Pret water repellent, high strength fabric was used for the Sling Bag and Document Case, and the backpack interior has a soft PU Coating lining. The backpack and garment bag also have a high density mesh exterior. As for the hardware, the fidlock slider replaces the traditional buckle and can be easily and conveniently opened by sliding laterally and closes automatically. The fidlock snap combines the convenience of a magnetic fastener with a stable mechanical snap fastener.
Aside from its modularity, the Xpedition also boasts of distributing weight closer to the body, so the center of gravity (COG) is higher and closer to the COG of the user. Other comfort details include an ergonomic soft foam back pad, body temperature regulation channels, and adjustable shoulder straps. With these features, the Xpedition feels lighter and more comfortable to wear compared to standard backpacks.
If you’re curious and want to switch to the Bagsmart Xpedition, it’s currently being funded on Kickstarter, where you can get the Early Bird Sets. You might particularly be interested in the XP Set (Travelling + Photography) for a $250 pledge.
