The Phase One IQ4 camera system uses Capture One’s image editing engine to process RAW files onboard.
Phase One introduced a brand new Phase One XF IQ4 camera system this morning, built upon their new and expandable Infinity Platform. Three full frame (645) medium format camera systems are included as part of this launch; the 151MP Phase One IQ4 150MP, the 101MP Phase One IQ4, 100MP Trichromatic, and the 151MP Phase One IQ4 150MP Achromatic. The Phase One IQ4 150MP and IQ4 150MP Achromatic cameras are the first full frame medium format cameras in the world to come equipped with 151MP backside illuminated (BSI) sensors, featuring ultra-efficient pixel design to deliver unprecedented image quality and detail.
Capture One Inside the Cameras
Phase One is also the manufacturer of Capture One and with the Infinity Platform, the core of Capture One’s imaging processor is being integrated into the IQ4 camera system. Phase One is calling this “Capture One Inside,” allowing cameras in the IQ4 camera system to edit and process RAW files onboard the cameras. “Capture One Inside” promises improved image preview quality, JPEG processing, IIQ style integration, as well as improved live view, a faster frame rate, and new tools.
New Tethering Options
Many photographers utilize Phase One cameras in studio environments with a tethered setup as part of their workflow. With the IQ4 camera system, Phase One is introducing three new tethering options; Wireless, USB-C, and Ethernet, making direct interfacing with hard drives, NAS storage, network solutions, mobile devices, etc possible. The inclusion of Ethernet and USB-C ports provide new charging and sustained power options for cameras in the IQ4 camera system. The IQ4 camera system will also support both XQD and SD memory cards. Phase One is dedicated to maintaining an open platform, designing the IQ4 camera system in a way that allows time-lapse and bracketing tools to operate independently of the camera bodies, which enable sequencing options across other camera bodies such as technical cameras.
The Phase One XF IQ4 150MP, Phase One XF IQ4 100MP Trichromatic, and Phase One XF IQ4 150MP Achromatic camera systems will be available in October 2018 through Phase One Partners.
