Today, the Canon PowerShot SX740 HS is being announced with a number of surprising features for a Canon point and shoot.

I never thought I’d be surprised by a point and shoot at a $399.99 price point, but the Canon PowerShot SX740 HS is doing just that to me. Quietly announced today, the new camera is targeting the growing demographic of people who want to be vloggers, YouTubers, and Influencers, and who want to do the job that journalists and bloggers have been doing for years (while not paying attention to FTC laws) with absolutely zero of the responsibility. So to do that, Canon is packing a lot of power into the Canon PowerShot SX740 HS.

The Canon PowerShot SX740 HS is packed with a number of cool features. For starters, it gets a 20.3MP sensor. But then there’s a clause in the press release that states you may not get that many megapickles when you shoot with the camera. It also has a 40x optical zoom, 4K video, can shoot at 7.4 fps, has bluetooth, wifi, and a pretty low price point. No word on how large the sensor is yet; if it’s anything like its predecessor, then it’s a tiny 1/2.3 inch sensor.
