A new Nikon mirrorless camera is coming soon, and it’s going to be full frame.
If we were to really sit and think about some of the recent news from Nikon, then we’d have to say we expected this to happen. Today, Nikon is making it official; they’re coming out with a full frame mirrorless camera and they’re going to have a new mount and new lenses as well. In addition to that, an F Mount adapter is going to be developed for photographers to use their collection of Nikkor glass. But again, that’s it. That’s all that we’re getting.
On a very personal note, this is pretty infuriating. I understand why they’d want to do this to ensure that their competitors don’t gain any ground on sales, but it’s a fairly half-assed attempt. It’s a teaser more than anything else. We can only assume a few things about what the new Nikon full frame mirrorless camera will be. Those assumptions include:
- Weather resistance
- Full frame sensor of the Nikon D850
- Perhaps a not so fantastic autofocus system out of the gate
- Wireless capabilities with all their flashes
- WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS
- The same Nikon menu system that we’ve come to know and love
- At least 5fps shooting
That’s all that we can really think of. Here’s the press release though.
