Wedding photographers need bags for all of the gear they take with them to a wedding. Here are some of our favorite picks.
Wedding Photographers: you may know one or you may be one. Regardless of your status, there is one thing about wedding photographers that’s a given; they potentially have a lot of different gear that they need to take with them to a shoot; cameras, lenses, lighting and other accessories. This requires a solid bag (or bags) to accommodate and protect such a large kit while at the same time remaining easy to transport and access.
Today, we wanted to highlight some of our top camera/gear bag picks with wedding photographers in mind. As well, if you have a big photography kit or a small photography kit, it makes no difference. We will have options below that appeal to a variety of wedding photographers with varying amounts of gear. So, if you are ready. let’s get into it…
WANDRD PRVKE
Why you should consider it for your wedding photography: The WANDRD PRVKE is an excellent choice for wedding photographers, especially destination wedding photographers because it can handle just about anything you throw at it. It has enough room for a modest kit including multiple camera bodies and lenses (size dependent, of course), and thanks to its rolltop design you can carry a couple speedlights, a windbreaker, extra clothes, snacks, or whatever else you may need to make it through a long day. It also has room for a laptop, tablet and other important accessories.
What we had to say about the WANDRD PRVKE in our review:
“When the Kickstarter launched, it was very aggressively marketed to be the only backpack that the traveling photographer needs. To that end, the PRVKE pack has loads of space, dividers, expandability, features that turn it into a tote bag, and other features that make a whole lot of sense when used during actual travel. In fact, I’ve taken it on two press trip and many a shoot. For the most part, WANDRD has created the perfect camera bag for photographers.” (Read the full review)
You can currently grab them over on Amazon for around $290.
Peak Design Everyday Backpack 30L
Why you should consider it for your wedding photography: The Peak Design Everyday Backpack 30L is an excellent choice for those who are set on a backpack style bag but who are looking for something a little more stylish and fashionable than a more outdoor looking bag like the WANDRD bag we just mentioned.
What we had to say about the Peak Design Everyday Backpack 30L in our review:
“While the search for “THE” perfect camera backpack may never truly be over, the Peak Design Everyday Backpack certainly comes pretty damn close thanks to its top notch build quality, adaptability, and usability. The Everyday Backpack stands up to the daily abuses working photographers face living in an urban environment with ease, while holding its own when traveling or being caught in inclement weather without breaking a sweat. Since I began this real-world review of the Peak Design Everyday Backpack, it has consistently been my top pick whenever fellow photographers have solicited me for camera backpack recommendations. The only deciding factor is whether you’ll need the larger 30L or the more compact 20L, and which colorway suits your fancy. There may be more stylish camera backpacks on the market but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I value function over form every day of the week when it comes to professional gear.” (Read the full review)

BlackForest Bags Vinson Messenger Bag
Why you should consider it for your wedding photography: If you are looking for a bag to wear while you are at the wedding site, chances are you won’t want to be running around with a backpack on. So a messenger bag, complete with room enough for an extra lens or two and some accessories are a great option and this is one of our favorites.
What we had to say about the Vinson Messenger Bag in our review:
“There’s a whole lot to love here with the BlackForest Bags Vinson messenger bag. It’s built well, can hold a lot of gear, is surprisingly sturdy, has a suitcase handle, and when you compare it to other camera bags it’s also available at a very affordable price point. Personally speaking, it’s got to be one of my favorite messenger bags simply due to the durability combined with its fashionable look. There are more comfortable straps out there, but that can be fixed on your own.” (Read the full review)
You can currently grab them over on their website for around $180.
Peak Design Everyday Tote Camera Bag
Why you should consider it for your wedding photography: If you don’t want a backpack, but want a bag that can carry your kit that you can also take off and set down while you are actually working then the Peak Design Everyday Tote could be just what you are looking for.
What we had to say about the Peak Design Everyday Tote Camera Bag in our review:
“Like the Everyday Messenger bag, I’m awarding this bag the Editor’s Choice award. With the messenger bag though, I did it knowing that I personally didn’t like the bag but knew a lot of you would. With the tote, I can genuinely say that I like the bag. It isn’t the most handsome bag, but that could also mean that someone doesn’t try to go in and steal something. There is enough padding throughout the bag, but I think that it’s best designed for mirrorless camera users. I’ve used it with a camera, lenses, and flashes stuffed in there along with a laptop.” (Read the full review)

Think Tank Retrospective 30 Leather
Why you should consider it for your wedding photography: If you’re a wedding photographer that wants to carry a ton of gear with more style than any of the options mentioned previously than this is a bag for you to consider. Like the tote, it will work well to put down while you are actually shooting, but will still look good and be functional if you do decide to wear it while working.
What we had to say about the Think Tank Retrospective 30 Leather in our review:
“The Think Tank Retrospective 30 Leather camera bag is extremely useful for the photographer who NEEDS it. If you’ve just got a lot of gear but don’t always need to lug it around and instead just store it, go for the regular Retrospective 30 and save some quid. The Leather is a bag designed for the photographer who needs to carry loads of gear at a time and wants a bit more style while doing so. So who are those photographers? To be honest I think it will do best with the wedding crowd more than anything else.“ (Read the full review)
