The Moment Pro Camera App Brings DSLR-like Controls to iOS and Android

There are a lot of mobile camera apps out there, and now add-on lens maker Moment is throwing their hat into the ring with the Moment Pro Camera App

Sometimes it’s nice to just take out your phone and capture an image in the moment, but it would be really great to have more control over the image you are capturing. This is especially true for photographers who shoot with dedicated cameras because we know what we want to capture, and auto-exposure/exposure compensation just doesn’t cut it. This is where having a quality camera app on your phone can be a great thing, but finding an app that has all of the features you may want can be a challenge. There are a lot of options out there, each one with their own take on various features, and today Moment is launching their Moment Pro Camera App with what they are calling a DSLR-like shooting experience.

Moment is known primarily for their quality add-on lens system for mobile phones that gives you the ability to greatly expand the range of looks you can capture with your mobile. They also have phone cases, and other great mobile photography accessories to help make your mobile photography experience more fun and powerful. The Moment Pro Camera App is designed to take that mission to the next level, allowing you to take advantage of not only their accessories on their own, but also the tools on your phone in one place to fully optimize the capabilities their accessories afford you.

Moment Pro Camera App Highlight Features

  • Full manual controls
  • DSLR-like Half press + Full press shutter functionality (iOS Only)
  • RAW, JPEG, TIFF, HEIF and HEVC photo/video file types
  • Dual Lens control (For phones with dual cameras)
  • Live histogram
  • Split focus and exposure
  • Auto video stabilization

Trying out mobile photo apps can be a real pain because many of them require that you purchase the app before you even get to play with it. This is obviously good for the app maker; they get paid. But if you buy the app and it doesn’t really work for you, this can end up in a lot of wasted money and unused apps on your mobile. Moment, to their credit, is taking a different (and better in our opinion) approach. If you are interested in giving the app a try you can download it through both the iOS App Store and Google Play store on Android totally free. You can play around with it and see if it is something that you would like to use.

If you download it, try it out, and decide it’s not for you, just remove the app and you’ve not wasted any money. If you do like what they are offering, they have some additional ‘pro features’ you can unlock in the app which will cost you $2.99 on iOS and $1.99 on Android devices. We love the Moment gear that we have used so far, and we are eager to download their new Moment Pro Camera App to give it a try.

You can learn more over on the Moment website. If you just want to download it and try it out, get it here for iOS, and here for Android. Additionally, if you are interested, you can take a look at our review of the latest Moment lenses.
