At Photokina 2016, Panasonic announced the development of the successor to their GH4: they’re calling it the Panasonic GH5. This camera is being targeted at the highest end of professionals that need to shoot stills and video. It makes sense as they also believe that 8k video will be a bigger standard in the year 2020–when the next Olympics are. 8K video is around 33MP according to Panasonic.
They’re claiming that it will have the best image quality of an GH product plus there will be improvements in 4K photo and the video. It will boast an 18MP sensor, 4k 60p video, 10-bit 4:2:2 video, and 6k 30p video. The new sensor is said to be very good at high dynamic range.
It will enter the market in the first half of 2017. Plus they’re coming out with 8-18mm f2.8-4, 12-60mm f2.8-4 and 50-200mm f2.8-4 lenses. We’ve got no other details so far. But more images from the press conference are after the jump.
