If you’re a Nikon DSLR user, we’re going to urge you to please purchase a bib in order to contain the massive and ungodly amounts of drool that are about to come from your mouth.
What’s that? You’ve got self control?! Okay, but don’t say we didn’t warn you!
Details are after the jump.
Today, Nikon is announcing three new lenses. The first and most exciting is an update to their 24-70mm f2.8 offering that is the bread and butter offering for so many photographers. The new AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f2.8 E ED VR feature vibration reduction inside to help you prevent any effects that camera shake may cause otherwise.
Nikon is also announcing their brand new 24mm f1.8 G ED lens–therefore bringing the company’s f1.8 prime lens lineup to a 20mm, 24mm, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, and 85mm collection.
Lastly, the new AF-S Nikkor 200-500mm f5.6 E ED VR is what will be the thrill of many wildlife and sports photographers.
Nikon Nikkor 24-70mm f2.8 E ED VR
The new Nikon 24-70mm 24-70mm f2.8 E ED VR promises up to four stops of image stabilization, electromagnetic aperture control, and improved image quality due to a new optical construction, which comprises 20 elements in 16 groups and a nine bladed aperture. They’re aiming it towards portrait, landscape and wedding photographers. The lens includes a new Aspherical Extra-Low Dispersion element, traditional aspherical elements, ED and high-refractive index elements. Additionally, you’ll also get Nikon’s Nano Crystal Coatings.
The company states that there are sealed gaskets to protect from the elements and a fluorine coating on the front and rear element to make it easier to remove dirt, moisture and smudges. The front filter diameter is 82mm–which is pretty massive.
When the Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 E ED VR hits the stores, it will retail for $2,399.95 in late August.
