Podcasts are a great way to kill time or to listen to while working or doing daily chores. Luckily, there are lots of great podcasts out there for photographers that can keep you up to date on the latest happenings in the world and how major news is affected by photography. With that said, we should totally tell you all about our own: ISO 400. But here are some of our very favorite photography podcasts.
The Candid Frame
The Candid Frame is hosted by Ibarionex Perello, a former contributor here at the Phoblographer. On a weekly basis (for the most part), Ibarionex has interesting interviews with various photographers about their work. They all have incredible stories to tell as they get very candid about their work and life. At the end, Ibarionex also asks every photographer to recommend another photographer for everyone to check out.
On Taking Pictures
Arguably the most entertaining podcast on photography, On Taking Pictures is an absolute must listen. Jeff and Bill talk about problems that they face in their own creative lives, news, cultural happenings, and a lot more. Jeff is very calm and West Coast in his demeanor while Bill’s New Yorker sometimes comes out to show its edge–which chemically fizzes into an entertaining dynamic that simmers well into the air waves.
This Week in Photo
Frederick Van Johnson is a special photographer that runs the incredible TWiP podcast. What’s so special about it is that TWiP is the closest thing that the photography world has to a talk show. In it, he interviews different photographers and experts about various occurrences in the photo world and about cultural happenings. Sometimes, they also cover gear, but you really listen to the podcast for the talks and stories that Fred brings out of people.
The Art of Photography
Photographer Ted Forbes uploads short videos where he speaks about different issues in photography. For a little while he was on a film kick, but he also dishes out lots of professional advice in a very teacherly way. Ted is also incredibly well spoken and though he doesn’t crack jokes, something about his personality keeps you hooked.
The Photo Brigade Podcast
Freelance Photographer Robert Caplin runs the Photo Brigade Podcast, which has been hosted at the Adorama Event Space for a while now. Robert has a background as a photojournalist for the NYTimes and other publications and so he uses it to talk to other photographers about their experiences on the job. He’s had some incredible sports photographers, photojournalists and more on the show.
