In addition to the cameras that Sony is announcing today, they’ve also got a new flash that is being unveiled today. The new flash is being called the HVL-F43M–and is the little brother to the HVL-F60M (which we reviewed a while back.) With this flash, Sony has shown that they’re committed to their brand new Hot Shoe and are throwing away the old Minolta shoe. However, there are still bundling in an adapter.
Like all Sony flashes, this one features a Cobra Head style: which means it will go back and forth and tilt left and right. That is unlike more conventional flashes that spin around. Like its F60M brother, it has a built in LED light for video. Sony is also saying that it is ruggedized, moisture resistant, and can withstand dust. The flash has master capabilities built in and can control three off-camera flashes. Also like the F60M, it doesn’t seem to have any PC Sync ports–which means that you’ll have a heck of a time using it with Pocket Wizards.
The HVL-F43M will be priced at $400, and will be available for purchase in July. More images are after the jump.
