If you’re currently looking for Canon and Nikon products — especially lenses and speedlights –, you might want to take a look at B&H’s rebate pages. You’ll find a number of Canon and Nikon lenses as well as Canon speedlights there with instant savings of up to $ 300 (compared to MSRP).

Some examples:

The popular Canon 50/1.4 is currently on offer for $ 359 — that’s a $ 40 drop from the MSRP.

The EF-S 17-55/2.8 IS USM is $ 120 off, which means you can have it for $ 1,059 instead of 1,179.

And finally, the 70-200/2.8 L IS II USM comes with a whopping $ 300 savings, currently selling for $ 2,199 instead of 2,499 at B&H

If you’re in for a new flash, the Speedlite 600EX-RT is $ 50 off, selling for $ 579 instead of 629.

On the Nikon side, you can save up to $ 950 if you buy select discounted items together.

For example, while the D7000 alone is $ 200 off, if you pair it with the 18-200/3.5-5.6 DX VR II, you save a total of $ 450 and pay only $ 1,596,95 instead of $2,046.95.

When I got into this industry years ago, one thing really confused me almost as much as how much certain older photographers tend to treat the younger generation of us: photo vests. I’m completely positive that you’ve all seen them: a photographer of a certain distinguishment (or trying to show off without having said distinguishment) wearing their vests that look a lot like safari vests. You know, almost as if they’re going to go out on an African safari at all times without being anywhere near something like a safari. Walking down the streets doing street photography? You’ll see a photo vest. In the studio? Photo vest! Hiking? Yup, A Photo vest!
