Behold! The 110 film format has been resurrected and a new camera has been created to embrace it. Indeed, perhaps the most popular 110 camera ever created was the Pentax Auto 110. Just this past week, however, the Lomography company announced and released their new Fisheye Baby 110 camera. The photo above shows the scale of just how itty bitty the camera really is.
The camera itself is extremely small in your hand and comes in two different versions: metal and black. The front of the camera is extremely minimalist and is only characterized by the bulging fisheye lens and the typical N/B switch that is typical of Lomo cameras. This will switch from the normal shutter speed to bulb if you’d like.
The top of the camera has not only the viewfinder (which is not through the lens) but also the shutter release button and a PC sync cord so that the camera can be used with various flashes.
The back of the camera has the film chamber, and on the bottom left is also the very cleverly placed advance film button.
Though we only got to use the camera for a little bit, I’m proud to say that I really, really couldn’t take it seriously. With that said and out of the way, I’m ecstatic that the company has created something so fun. The 110 film format is so small and because of this, it is also very fun to use. In reality, this is a potentially really fun toy to me that will allow me to just get creative because I will be essentially locked into one shutter speed and aperture when not on bulb mode, so the only real variable for me would be a manual flash setting of some sort.
Because of that, it may be very specialized for me to use at a party or something. We’re calling in a review unit soon. At the current retail price of under $40, it is quite the camera.
