Mother’s Day is coming up, and your mom probably loves cameras and photography. There are plenty of gifts that you can get her to suit particular personality and tastes. Here’s a rundown of gifts that she’ll be all starry-eyed for when she unwraps them. Remember that they can all be purchased by clicking the appropriate links to Amazon or B&H.

Soccer Mom

Soccer moms often want to carry one camera and lens because they need room in the car for other things: like the kids and coolers with drinks. Jill-E Designs make some very slim bags that are affordable in both “Bodacious Black” and “Potion Purple.” Mom will be able to fit a DSLR, lens and something else in there. It could be a water bottle, small towel, band-aids, snacks, etc.

If you can afford it: a Canon 60D or Nikon D7000 will fit very well into a bag like this.

Fun Mom

Today, for some odd reason, the Nikon P1000 point and shoot camera is being announced. Odd, you ask? The fact that it is a point and shoot isn’t such a big issue at all; but the fact that it’s a superzoom camera being marketed as one with a 125x optical zoom is what’s insane. Kudos to Nikon for being able to do something like this; but then you read the fine print (or in this case, print that’s not even in the press release) and see the bait and switch–this Nikkor lens is having its potential wasted by being placed in front of a 1/2.3 inch sensor.
