Which One Are You: Canon or Nikon (Epic Star Wars Battle)

by Chris Gampat on 04/10/2011

Canon or Nikon, which one are you? Let us know in the comments below. By the way, heads up to reader @Daniel_Neeley for the awesome artwork rendering on the left and who is also a kick-ass photographer. You’ve totally made my day with this awesome Star Wars epic battle stemming from the little bit of humor we threw in.

Me? I prefer the light side of the force, though I’ve dabbled in the dark arts. Speaking of which, you should study the dark art of metering and check out some of the latest weapons on the light and dark side of the force.

Choose wisely…

Canon however I cut my teeth in the dark shadows!!!!

Welcome back to the light ;)

Think some parties are forgotten. I’m using Pentax.

    • Chris Gampat

If you figure out how to add them into the Star Wars lore, I’ll be down for adding them in.

Think some parties are forgotten. I’m using Pentax. which side am I? maybe I’m a whise man who stay out of war?

    • Chris Gampat

No reason to panic man, your comment was being held for approval :)

phones are a little difficult to handle. :-X

        • Chris Gampat

In the Star Wars world, we have projector phones.

Canon, of course. But I don’t have anything against Nikon…..should I?

    • Chris Gampat

They want to take our homeland from us ;)

I’m a Jedi with a bit of storm trooper thrown in. Bellow is the rest of the mythology.

Pentax – Wookies – Faithful and reliable companions.

Hasselblad – Stormtroopers – Resiliant, hard working, ready for battle.

Olympus – Bounty Hunters – Always hiding in the background.

Leica – Jawas – Small and compact but always resourceful.

Sony – Gungan – Good in battle but a little on the stange side.

Panasonic/Samsung – Droids – Need we explain this one.

    • Chris Gampat

You sir, are what I call awesome. :)

      • http://www.kornakph.com Patrick Kornak

Thanks Chris, glad I could help. Great blog by the way.

        • Chris Gampat

Merci beaucoup :) We <3 our readers like no other.

I am an ewok-rebel for canon

im no fanboy or something, but my first camera was a canon and my lenses are also canon
    :D

  • KGriffis

Personally I love being a part of the masters of the dark (otherwise known as low-light). – I say this in comedic fashion so please don’t start shouting.

I’m a Pentaxian and an iPhonian. That’s about as good as a Vulcan. :-P

    Nikon forever…the empire hit again

  • http://venuraherath.com/ Venura Herath

Hail Nikon! nothing else ! :)

  • Sander-Martijn

I think you have it backwards and not only because I’m a Nikon user. After all Canon is the one named after a weapon, arguably the first weapon of mass destruction :) I have a friend that swears by Canon bodies and Nikon glass (there’s an adapter to connect them). Until Canon fixes their UI issues and puts both the aperture and speed controls under my fingertips I would never consider switching. But does it really matter?

    • Anonymous

Yes! Because the fate of the universe is at stake! The Universe, man!!!!!

Actually, Canon was originally called Kwanon, and was named after the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy. (Check out the cool original logo here: http://www.canon.com/about/mark/origin.html) She’s of the same archetype as Our Lady of Mercy in the Christian tradition.

They changed the name when they went international, to make it easier to pronounce.

Their corporate philosophy is kyosei, which they translate as, “All people, regardless of race, religion or culture, harmoniously living and working together into the future.”

In any event, I’m a confirmed µ4/3 user, so I won’t get into the fray, except to note that I love my old legacy Nikon AI-S lenses, and I haven’t yet warmed up to any of my Canon FDs.

    • WBP

Canon was named after Kannon, a metamorph of the Buddha. Canon likes NUMBERS in catalog but they do not take photos

    I’m shooting with a canon 7D
i don’t feel there is a war like mac VS pc
both are very good brand and enable their user to take exeptional picture !

i just use the canon because i’m more used too the way canon aranged the menu , when i use a nikkon i just feel lost.

  • Ant

Canon and Nikon are both the evil empire. If anybody is the rebel alliance it’s the 4/3 crew.

  • Guyinrf

“Don’t join the dark side” I use Canon because thats what I’m iced to. Nikon makes a quality product also and people take amazing lighted with them both. It’s a tool to do a job. If I gets the job done for you, what difference does it make. But Canon all the way. ;)

  • Guyinrf

Hell, I really should check my spelling. “I use Canon because that’s what I’m used to” “people take amazing pictures with both”

Dammit auto correct, where the hell are you when I need you!

  • SpaZJP

    With=sith. Lol

  • SpaZJP

Lord Nikon is a with and a hacker!!!

  • PaulW

I really wish Pentax had full frame and I’d be proud to join Cybergaby as a Vulcan. I’ve never tried Nikon but Canon blows me away…Canon it is

    • http://bluetwothree.blogspot.com cybergabi

Pentax has the most affordable digital medium format camera on the market: the 645D. Forget full-frame :-)

      • Chris Gampat

        Good luck shooting sports!

      • PaulW

Indeed I appreciate the fact that they do, and I would have loved to have skipped full frame and gone medium format. Unfortunately that was around £7500 out of my price range. Full frame as an in between would have been great.

  • pacogwapo

nikon is the best looking of them all… canon boring.

I’m a Canon user, both digital and analog, but I used both Nikon and Canon, there isn’t much of a beef between them, only the people who think they have the greatest camera in the world go all fanboy :)

  • Macjim

I’m a Nikon user who wanted a Canon 50D but couldn’t stretch the money to buy one so I bought a Nikon D90 instead. I now wish I got the 50D after all?
    Oh, and I’m a leica D-Lux5 user too! :-)

May the farce be with you… ;-)

Nikon, started with a point and shoot so when I went to buy an slr I only looked at nikons. Now a proud owner of d7000 and an f501 with several lenses and flashes. But it’s not a preference, I could have just as easily went Canon.
