We’re all fans of some photography brands. Some hold a special place in our hearts, and many among us defend them to no end. Other brands we can’t stand, and we secretly wish our favorite brand would do better than them. But this article isn’t about which brands are outshining others. Almost all leading camera manufacturers are guilty of doing (or not doing) one or more of the points below. What is worrying is that some of these unhealthy trends have continued for years. And manufacturers don’t seem to want to address these anytime soon. Which ones do you find most annoying?

I’m Dreaming of the Canon RF 35mm f1.2 L Lens to Be Real

When I was still starting this website, I used the Canon 5D Mk II and the 24-105mm f4 L IS USM. But for many years, my bread and butter setup was the Canon 35mm f1.4 L and the Canon 5D Mk II. This was the case until Sigma made an arguably better lens. And for every camera system I own, I’ve always reached for their 35mm lens–Leica L mount being the exception. Canon has been mostly redoing their L lenses from the EF mount but in RF mount. So realistically, we should expect to see a Canon 35mm f1.4 L with something special. I mean, look at that 100mm Macro lens they did! It looks so amazing!

I’m Dreaming of an Innovative Fujifilm GFX 100R Camera

I’m hoping that the Fujifilm GFX 100R is possible, as it would be incredible!

Rangefinder-style camera bodies are the best. The SLR style is way too prevalent and they all start to feel the same after a while. But Fujifilm’s rangefinder-style camera bodies have always appealed to me. So with the Fujifilm GFX 100S being announced a while back, I got to thinking. Is the Fujifilm GFX 100R possible? Can the company cram an image-stabilized, 100MP sensor into a rangefinder-style camera body? More importantly, can they make it smaller? I’m hoping Fujifilm can do it.

B+W Filters is Showing off Their New Packaging at Photokina

Schneider Kreuznach is set to present several improvements to their B+W Filters at the Photokina 2018.

If you’re already excited about checking out the manufacturers’ booths for the upcoming Photokina on September 26 – 29 in Cologne, you might want to add Schneider Kreuznach on your list. The German optics company is set to bring some improvements to their B+W Filters and related accessories. These include new packaging design, a B+W ND Calculator App, innovative surface coating for filter mounts, and new B+W square filters. Landscape photographers in particular may be interested in checking these out.
