The nimble hands of technology are shaping up the camera world somewhat differently. Camera manufacturers consistently produce new patents for their innovations yearly, yet only a certain number of units are sold. The latest BCN Rankings—an organization that publishes hierarchies of digital consumer goods—revealed that Sony dominates the mirrorless interchangeable lens camera (MILC) category in sales, while Canon reigns in the DSLR category. Per the report, Sony sold 36% of the MILCs in 2024, while Canon sold a whopping 73.5% of DSRLs. These results stem from examining a data pool of 21 retailers in Japan.
