Fujifilm is following their own roadmap from previous generations and has announced special ‘graphite’ silver versions of their latest X-Trans III based cameras, the X-Pro 2, X-T2 as well as a 23mm F/2 R WR to match.
In terms of specifications neither the X-Pro 2 or X-T2 Graphite editions come with any spec or performance improvements, with the difference being strictly aesthetic. This will no doubt irk some photographers, given the slight price premium, but this is not the first time we have seen something like this from Fujifilm, so it should not be all that surprising.
The X-Pro 2 will come in the new graphite version in a kit alongside the graphite 23mm F/2 R WR. The X-T2 will come in the body only and will come with several accessories including a leather strap, aluminum hot shoe cover and matching hot-shoe mount flash.
In terms of availability, both the X-Pro 2 Graphite kit and the X-T2 Graphite will be available towards the end of this month (January 2017). Interestingly enough, the press release does not mention an X-T2 23mm F/2 kit, X-Pro2 Graphite body only, nor a 23mm F/2 Graphite solo for purchase.
That will be a move that may irk many Fujifilm shooters. I will be curious to hear the reasoning for this odd decision from Fujifilm.
