The rumors of Canon’s medium format camera are thickening–and even though it is incredibly exciting and there is quite a bit of evidence showing that it might be coming we’re still not so sure about it. According to NorthLight and Canon Rumors, the company wants to basically do what Fujifilm did with the X Pro 1–wait until they have a full system of lenses. As far as sales go, that makes complete and total sense.
The rumors are also stating that the new lens mount will be a larger version of the EF mount and that it may be ready in time for Photokina 2014. We’re still not sure about the Square Sensor idea either despite them already existing.
If Canon releases a Medium Format camera though, we might realistically expect it to be around the price of the Pentax 645D and maybe even similar.
